Our Thesis
In 1965, The Immigration and Nationality Act was constructed to make the immigration policy more equitable by prioritizing family consolidation over race. The barrier of this act being signed into law was the National Origins Quota system which allowed more people to immigrate from Northern Europe. This act broke barriers by allowing more immigrants from all over the world to come to the United States making it significant today because with the current international issues it is vital that the United State’s doors remain open to new immigrants.
