                                                 Significance

This act has had an immense impact on not only our country but the world. Our country has evolved in many different areas such as government, culture, and relations with other countries.  Prior to this bill, the government didn’t realize how much of an influence one act could have on a country. Following the immigration act of 1965, our government has opened their eyes to the capability of one act.

This law also had an important impact on the culture of the United States. Ever since this act was passed, the United States has become more culturally aware. This was a major step for our country, and it also leads to having better relations with other countries. Before this act was passed, the United States had an unstable relationship with Japan on the terms of immigration. However, since the passage of this bill, immigration has become much better between the two countries, therefore the relationship has been assisted by the passing of this act.

“The land flourished because it was fed from so many sources--because it was nourished by so many cultures and traditions and peoples.”- Lyndon B. Johnson
